Company overview
Silvercrest Commodities was established in 2011 as a limited company in South Africa. Located in the commercial capital of Johannesburg, Sandton. This expansion coupled with the large network of small scale to medium mineral miners in Southern Africa makes us a perfect choice in supply and delivery of materials from origin to destination.
We offer a broad portfolio of base metals including, ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals. Our expertise also includes providing a comprehensive and tailor-made solution to meet the needs of our clients locally and abroad.
The book
We issue a firm offer once we know your quantity, specification and discharge point. Chrome carries our grade sheet. We quote the other metals the same way: origin, size, assay and incoterm.
How a parcel is closed
This is how we close a parcel. Cash ex mine, a cash-backed letter of credit, or an escrow we both agree can sit inside it. The order of the documents does not change.
You send a letter of intent or ICPO with full banking details and authority for a soft probe.
We issue a full corporate offer with the product, grade, quantity, price basis and incoterm.
You sign and stamp the offer and return it.
We exchange a sale and purchase agreement covering assay, laytime and documents.
You sign, stamp and return the agreement.
We invite you, or your representative, to sample and visit the site.
Once you accept the results, you open a letter of credit, or fund cash ex mine or escrow as we agreed.
Our bank verifies and confirms the instrument before we release any cargo.
On a confirmed letter of credit, we schedule shipment to begin ten days after confirmation, on the contract timetable.
Ports
We lodge the export documents with the bonded warehouse, together with the set the shipping agent needs. We also run the inland leg from the miner.
Our usual South African load port for bulk cargo going deep-sea, and the port we use when equipment is coming the other way.
The gate we use for inland cargo, and when you want a Mozambican bill of lading rather than a Durban one.
Where we move Zimbabwean and Zambian material that sits closer to the central corridor than to the South African ports.
What you will want to know
From the mine to port within the SADC Region and East Africa. The parcels on our current book come from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. We contract the parcel, arrange the sampling, and move it to the port. We are based in Sandton. We trade the metal. We do not own the mine.
We offer South African concentrate at 40.50–42.49% Cr2O3, and Zimbabwean concentrate at 46–48% Cr2O3. Our South African sheet is sized 0–2 mm. We quote weekly programmes from 500 to 2,500 metric tons, up to 10,000 metric tons in a month, and the firm offer confirms the lot.
Our standing terms are cash ex mine, or a cash-backed letter of credit from a top-rated bank. A programme can also be settled through an escrow we both agree, including a trade escrow where the bank allows us to draw down.
Yes. We import and export flotation plants for gold and copper, spiral plants, crushers, dump trucks, excavators, front-end loaders and dozers, for a start-up or an expansion. See the equipment list.
Next step
Tell us the metal, the monthly tonnage, the discharge or load point, and whether you want to sample before we open the instrument.
